Ms McKenzie of New Beith, is the spokeswoman for Harrison's Little Wings, an organisation which provides support to families who are struggling with a high risk pregnancy or bereavement.
The organisation is named for Harrison, Ms McKenzie’s baby who lived for just 28 hours before succumbing to an incurable condition called congenital diaphragmatic hernia.
Ms McKenzie said she hoped that Harrison’s life gave some light for others going through such a tragic time.
Her organisation offered practical services like house cleaning, yard maintenance and support.
This allowed the family to focus on the health of mother and baby.
“We also provide educational packages to hospitals around high risk pregnancy and bereavement services,’’ Ms McKenzie said.
“We are currently providing the Mater with scrapbook albums, a blanket, booties and beanies for families who tragically lose a baby.
“This is kept as a keepsake for them to create treasured memories around their babies.
“We work with the government and local hospitals as consumer representatives as we are passionate about changing the way families are cared for within the hospital system.’’
Harrison’s Wings will hold a high tea fundraiser in April at Tea and Niceties, Eagle Heights.

“We are also after crafty people who may want to knit or patch work a quilt for our cause or people who may want to donate wool for our wonderful volunteers who knit,’’ she said.
