Jimboomba Quota is hosting a special evening event all about speech, communication and hearing.
The working together as we speak evening will be raising funds to help someone in the community who has speech difficulties.
The hear and say committee has been working on the event for several months and hopes that it will be a great success.
Coordinator Christine Edwards said so far 25 people are registered for the evening.
“We often help with hearing but this time we chose to focus on speech,” she said.
“Members have had experiences with speech and we wanted to raise money for someone in the community who might be in need, with a focus on speech.
“There are quite a few speech impairments in the community who we could help.”
Lynne Hais said she hopes people will come along and enjoy the evening and company so much they may even want to join Jimboomba Quota.
“This event aligns with quota’s mission and we want to reach the people who need this information,” she said.
Jimboomba Speech Pathologist Lorelle Savage will be a special guest speaker at the evening.
Lorelle said she would be discussing what speech pathologists do as well as presenting several case studies.
“I hope to give people a better understanding of what communication encompasses,” she said.
“It’s more than just words, its all the other aspects.
“I will certainly answer any general questions people have.
“I do recommend early intervention and it’s better to get checked early.”
The speech evening will be held at Golden Inn Chinese Restaurant Jimboomba at 7pm on February 20, it is $25 for a banquet meal.
