Mr Toy said he was concerned about high fees being charged on infrastructure, the extent of local government expenditure and the number of gravel roads in the region that needed sealing.
Mr Toy, who has worked in a family civil construction business as a plant operator and site supervisor, said he was concerned that business in Logan City was being stymied by high costs on commercial projects.
“People are being hit with massive fees,’’ he said. “It’s nothing specific in particular, just general charges.’’
Mr Toy wants to see local government spending re-prioritised and the standard of roads improved.
He will challenge long-serving Cr Phil Pidgeon in division 9.
Mr Toy said he saw the election and his nomination as a substantial challenge.
“But I’m quietly confident,’’ he said.
He said he had pamphlets and brochures ready to go and would have a campaign launch at North Maclean at the Maclean Bridge Park on February at 11.30am.
