Logan City Council has allocated $10,000 to pay for the fit out of the Mundoolun Community Centre.
Division 4 councillor Don Petersen allotted the funds from the divisional infrastructure and capital improvements program.
Cr Petersen said it was important to gain the funding now before council elections, otherwise it would not be able to be passed until at least May.
“This centre is really great for the area,” he said.
“This funding will really help bring (the centre) together and outfitting will get it running.
“The developers too have really gone above and beyond.”
Mundoolun Estate Community and Environment Group secretary Raj Aggarwal said it was fantastic for a community of this size to get something like this.
“This will do a lot of good to this community,” he said.
“We are here for the community and we are happy to assist whoever takes over.
“The community will thrive on this, it will be a central point for bringing the community together.”
Cr Petersen said the process will be starting soon for expressions of interest for site use.
Interested parties can contact the council.
There will be a Mundoolun Neighbourhood Watch meeting and a community centre meeting on February 24 from 7pm at the centre.
