INFRASTRUCTURE around popular Meakin Park is in for a make over.

Logan City Council will spend $2 million on works around the sporting complex over the next few months.
Roads chairman Don Petersen said works on the heavily used area would include road rehabilitation, water main replacement, a footpath and signage.
"We replace water mains at various locations across the city each year as they age and this year the mains at Meakin Rd have been identified on the program," Cr Petersen said.
"We will replace the water main on the western side of Meakin Rd, between Queens Rd and the Meakin Park Sports Club, from mid-February.
"This will improve the way the local water network operates for residents and businesses."
This would be followed by a major rehabilitation project on a 430m section from Queens Rd to Veldt St.
"Meakin Rd is well-used because of the many visitors to the sport and recreation areas, so we are going to give it some attention.’’
Cr Steve Swenson said the upgrade would be enhanced with new signage and a footpath along Meakin Rd.
"Council is installing new directional and information signage to promote Meakin Park and the many great local sports clubs that play out of it," he said.
"The illuminated signs will be installed at the intersections of Meakin Rd and Queens Rd, and Meakin Rd and Paradise Rd.
"Meanwhile, new footpaths will be installed on the eastern side of Meakin Rd, from Football Queensland's headquarters to Queens Rd, and then continue down to the Logan City Rugby Union Club."
Cr Petersen said road closures and traffic detours would be in place and residents and businesses would be notified when the job began, likely late next month.
Cr Swenson said Council was coordinating the scheduling of works across the four projects and would take every effort to reduce the impacts on the local community and motorists as much as possible.
Construction activities are scheduled to end in September, pending weather and construction conditions. Information will be distributed before works start.
