EMMAUS College’s first junior school graduating year 6 cohort was recognised for outstanding efforts in leadership and learning at the school’s younger years awards ceremony on Thursday.
The class was praised for its academic success throughout 2015, as well as for rising to the challenge of being role models for the school’s younger students.
School principal Kevin Schwede praised those students who received awards and reminded the students to thank those around them for their support.
“Everyone in this hall has not achieved our results by ourselves,” he said.
“Your parents, family, friends and staff have all helped you, you rely on them and we all need to help others because other people rely on us.
“We shouldn’t forget how important working together is.
“Learning is a process we are all involved in, the most important person is you.
“I would like to congratulate our award recipients on your fine achievement, also thankyou all for doing your best this year, that is all we ask of each of you.”
Year 6 captains Lillie Kopa and Connor Eggerling also addressed the school community.
“This year has been a fun filled year with lots of opportunities to show our leadership skills,” Connor said.
“We have turned into true leaders, there have been many ups and downs but overall we have had an amazing year.
“We hope that the students for next year have as much fun as we do.”
Year 6 student Tori Bowden received the All Rounder Award for her efforts in 2015.
Gemma King was awarded the BK Medallion for continued success in sports, while Faithe Byrnes received the Striving for Success Award.
Lochlan Lovi was awarded the school’s 2015 Leadership Encouragement Award.
