ONE of Australia’s largest property developers, Mirvac, has announced plans to develop 3000 home sites on land on the corner of Teviot Road and Greenbank Road.
The 481 hectare site is currently farmland and is on the eastern side of Teviot Road, across from Greenbank Shopping Centre.
If approved, the new community would include regional recreational and sports parks, a neighbourhood centre and a state primary school.
It would also include 100 hectares of green space.
Mirvac head of residential John Carfi said there was a strong demand for residential properties in Greenbank.
“As part of the Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area and with its proximity to the Brisbane CBD, Greenbank is set to be a major centre for growth in the coming years and we look forward to playing a central part in that expansion,” he said.
“Employment, retail, education and transport infrastructure (are) all in easy reach... (and) the site itself is also situated opposite the existing Greenbank Shopping Centre.”
Mirvac masterplanned communities director Russell Berlee said consultation would be undertaken with council and the greater community in the planning stage.
“While development is administered by the state, Mirvac recognises the importance of engaging Logan City Council and the greater community,” he said.
“We have met with Logan City Council a number of times prior to securing the site and consider the council to be a key stakeholder in the successful delivery of the project.”
He said while no approvals were currently in place, Mirvac had begun preparing a development application for the project, which will be lodged with Economic Development Queensland in coming months.
Economic Development Queensland is responsible for assessing developments in the Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area.
Mr Berlee said depending on approval timeframes, site works could start in late 2016.
