THERE was hair flying everywhere at Hills College on Thursday as students and staff took part in the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave fundraiser.
Year 12 student Kodee Lund shaved his head for the second year in a row, raising about $60, while Brendon Williamson raised $150 and had both legs waxed.
Physical education teacher Andrew Wookey had one leg waxed, after the school raised $390 to make it happen.
Many of the school's primary students had their hair sprayed with crazy colours to raise funds as well.
More than $600 was raised and donated to Hills College parent Toni Bale, who shaved her head in honour of her father at a World's Greatest Shave event last weekend.
Ms Bale said her fundraising total now stood at more than $1200, all of which would go to the Leukaemia Foundation.
She said when Hills College found out what she was doing they decided to donate their money to her for the fundraiser.
"It was really humbling and their support was overwhelming. It's fantastic to see the whole school get behind the fundraiser," Ms Bale said.
"To me, my hair is just hair, it will grow back, whereas some other people aren't so lucky."
Mr Wookey said having his leg waxed did not hurt and was all for a good cause.
"Part of the deal of me having one leg waxed is that I don't do the other one so I'm going to look ridiculous for a little while," he said.
"It's hard for a PE teacher to get away with wearing trousers, I wear shorts every day, so I'm sure the kids will get to enjoy it for another month or so."
