Transport and Main Roads district director Sanjay Ram said the signals would make it safer for motorists to exit Millstream Road.
He said the signals also would help bus passengers, including school students, cross the highway safely when two new bus shelters are re-established on the highway as part of the $1.95 million Safer Roads Sooner upgrade.
“The intersection upgrade includes the signals, new bus shelters and linking footpaths, street lighting, kerb and channelling and guardrail on Henderson Creek Bridge,” Mr Ram said.
“The speed limit on that section of highway will remain at 60km/h until roadworks are completed about the end of the month when the speed limit will be permanently reduced to 80km/h.”
The work began in early November 2014 and is expected to be completed by the end of the February.
