A 17-YEAR-OLD from South Maclean is facing assault charges after knocking out another teen during schoolies week celebrations on the Gold Coast.
The 17-year-old was charged with common assault after hitting a Mermaid Waters 17-year-old in the head on Tuesday night.
Police have confirmed a 17-year-old Jimboomba man, a 17-year-old Greenbank woman and a 16-year-old Mermaid Waters boy were also at the scene, but no other charges were laid.
Police say the fight, which occured about 10.30pm outside a bowling alley on Cavill Avenue, broke out after a disagreement between two groups of schoolies.
The injured 17-year-old fell to the ground during the fight, with a large egg clearly visible on his forehead. Paramedics treated him at the scene.
He is recovering in hospital.
The South Maclean teen will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on December 12.
Meanwhile, police have said they are "generally happy" with the vast majority of school leavers after the sixth day of schoolies celebrations.
