THE Jimboomba Thunder under 14s went down to Ormeau on Saturday 14-10 in a hard fought grand final game.
Coach Bert Scholten said the Jimboomba boys did themselves, the club and the town proud, fighting to the very end.
He said they were pressing hard at the Ormeau line when the hooter went.
"You could not fault their effort, it was the execution that was a little off today," Scholten said on Saturday.
"This is a great bunch of lads who have achieved as a team in the face of some adversity and I know myself and the rest of the coaching staff could not be prouder of them."
Scholten said Ormeau's ranks were bolstered by first grade players but Thunder still gave them a run for their money.
Tries were scored by Jackson Scarafilo and Thomas Parrinder with a great conversion from Alex King.
Thunder president Matt Neville said the under 14s are "a great team of young men, who capture the spirit of this club" and he looked forward to their efforts next year.
