FLAGSTONE State School celebrated National Science Week with a day of interesting experiments on Wednesday.
Students from prep to year 7 got to play with slime, test the viscosity of liquids and make mini volcanoes in experiments throughout the day.
Science co-ordinator Ros Cradden said the students were very enthusiastic about getting hands-on with the science experiments.
"It's really important to get young children interested in science and doing fun, creative experiments is a great way to do that," she said.
"Our older students are interested to learn about the science behind the experiments whereas in the junior school the students just want to touch and have a go."
As part of science week the students also visited a sea life display, set up in the library by Flagtone resident Bev Mortensen.
Year 4 student Jayden Smith conducted an experiment changing the surface tension of milk with dishwashing liquid.
"We put different colours of food colouring into the milk and then add a few drips of dishwashing liquid and the colours start to move around and mix," he said.
"It has been lots of fun learning about the experiment and teaching the younger students how to do it."
