WORK to widen a section of Chambers Flat Road at Park Ridge to four lanes will begin next year as part of a $47.9 million investment into road infrastructure.
The roads, drainage and engineering branch will receive a total $215.5 million in the new financial year, second only to the water and sewerage allocation of $287.5 million.
Other significant road projects include $3.4 million to rehabilitate Andrew Road at Greenbank and $5.4 million for work to rebuild a section of Cusack Lane, Jimboomba, which is already under way.
The widening of Chambers Flat Road between Entrance Street and Park Ridge Road is planned over several years.
The first stage will focus on the intersections of Chambers Flat Road with Bumstead and Park Ridge roads, with work to start in 2015.
Council has allocated $4 million to the project in 2014-15, with funding to continue in future years.
Roads chairman Cr Don Petersen said $47.9 million would be invested into road infrastructure capital projects in the new financial year.
"Capital projects include road surface rehabilitation, general infrastructure rehabilitation, new and upgraded roads, drainage projects and bus stops," he said.
"Council has listened to feedback from the community, particularly from the 2013 Logan Listens: Residents' Survey, which again indicated that having good road infrastructure is a high priority for residents," Cr Petersen said.
"We are very much committed to enhancing the condition of the city's existing road network."
