The lights will be installed in the first half of next year and will coincide with an extension of the 70km/h speed limit south of the intersection.
Beaudesert MP Jon Krause said the upgrade would improve safety for motorists at the intersection, where more than 100 serious crashes have been recorded in the past five years.
"It's a great outcome for the residents of Millstream Road and also users of the Mt Lindesay Highway," he said.
"I've had a lot of concerns raised with me over the last 12 to 18 months - it is a busy intersection, especially during peak hours."
He said community groups had lobbied intensely for the upgrade and he was pleased to be able to deliver.
"I know this is something the Logan Country Safe City Group has been advocating for as well as Jimboomba Police and Neighbourhood Watch as well," he said.
"So it's great that under the Safe Roads Sooner program funding has been made available for this intersection upgrade."
Logan Country Safe City Group chairman David Kenny welcomed the funding.
"This is really a great outcome for the community. We worked with the state and local government for over 12 months now in concert with the police,"?he said.
"We're just over the moon really that this has come in and we've been able to get it in before anyone has been killed at the intersection."
This is the second time lights have been funded for Millstream Road, with the former Labor government allocating funding before stripping it away again.
