FOR many people, public speaking is up there with death, divorce and moving house as one of the most stressful things to go through - but the team at Jimboomba Toastmasters is keen to prove it is not that scary.
Throughout next week, they will host their inaugural Dare to Speak workshops at Jimboomba Library, open to all adults who want to find their inner orator.
The series of five workshops will break down the factors involved in public speaking and refine communication, persuasion and presentation skills.
Jimboomba Toastmasters president Bob Millen said he was surprised at how many people were scared of public speaking - but he was convinced everyone has the potential to be a great speaker.
Fellow Toastmaster and workshop organiser Alexander Yashin said he understood the fear people had, but after learning how to deal with the task, people would realise it was not such a scary thing.
Workshops will be held from Monday, May 5 to Saturday, May 10. Times are scattered, allowing flexibility for those who are juggling with work, children or other commitments.
While Dare to Speak is open to everybody, registration is recommended for catering purposes.
