FLAGSTONE resident Mandee Scott has made a desperate plea to parents to keep their children home at night.
About a week and a half ago, Ms Scott was the victim of a vandalism attack and she suspects children or teenagers to be responsible for the damage.
She said her family was startled by a loud bang in the night and later found the letterbox had been knocked out of the ground and the number snapped off.
She said groups of young people were often seen wandering the neighbourhood late at night and she believed they were getting up to mischief.
She said in the Christmas holidays two cars on her street were spray painted with the words "Flagstone hoods".
"Every school holidays kids just seem to run amok," she said.
Ms Scott took to Facebook last week to vent her frustrations.
"Just saying to all keep your kids in your house at night time folks as I am so over kids out destroying public property and ringing door bells late at night," she posted on the Flagstone Community page.
More than 20 people liked Ms Scott's post and several posted comments in agreement.
While some said reports would, "fall on deaf ears" others commended the police for stepping up patrols in the area.
Flagstone Community Association president Bob Wiley also said he wanted parents to take responsibility for their children.
"If we've got kids roaming around all hours of the night, what are the parents doing," he said.
Mr Wiley said recently the children had been pulling garden stakes from the ground and breaking branches off trees.
He said on a typical Friday night he would see several groups of children and teenagers wandering the streets.
"I want to make parents aware that their kids could be up to no good and to keep a close eye on them," Mr Wiley said.
Jimboomba Police Senior Sergeant Bill Sheehan said crime at Flagstone was no worse than the rest of his division.
"The police do regular patrols across the whole division, including Flagstone, and target areas where there are crime issues," he said.
He said the police had a good relationship with the Flagstone community and thanked the community for taking ownership of the area.
