LOGAN Village businesses are growing increasingly frustrated as break-and-enters continue to plague the town's industrial estate.
Last week, thieves broke into Centenary Street business Industrial Maintenance and stole a truck with welding equipment, smashing their way through the gate before using the truck to ram-raid a nearby business.
Industrial Maintenance director Ross Eekhoff said despite having a guard dog, the thieves had taken off with about $40,000 worth of property between the truck and the welding equipment.
"They're just low-lifes," he said.
Several businesses in the estate have been broken into over the past 12 months and Mr Eekhoff said more needed to be done to improve security there, suggesting better lighting and CCTV as possibilities.
Logan Village Stihl Shop owner David Harvey said ram-raids and break and enters had become an increasing problem in the estate, threatening the viability of businesses.
"Someone gets broken into about once a fortnight," he said.
"I've been here 10 years and been ram-raided three times."
Mr Harvey said the threat to businesses from break-ins went beyond stock losses, property damage and inconvenience.
"It's pretty serious because if I keep getting broken into, I can't get insurance, if I can't get insurance I can't carry the stock, then I'm out of business," he said.
Jimboomba Police Senior Sergeant Bill Sheehan said police were investigating the recent ram-raids.
He said break and enters were always a concern for police and there were initiatives in place to help businesses with their security.
"I would encourage all businesses to contact Jimboomba police where they can take advantage of our Volunteers in Policing for free security audits and they can work with police to put in additional security," he said.
Anyone with information on the break-ins is encouraged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
