After the success of last year's event, the Cancer Council Relay for Life is returning to San Damiano College in Yarrabilba for 2022.
The event has a long history in the Jimboomba area, and over a million dollars has been raised for the charity over the past 18 years.
Cancer Council Queensland Beaudesert branch president Julie Ferguson said the event was a practical way to support people living with cancer, and was a great way to do something on their behalf.
"I think most people are touched by cancer," Ms Ferguson said.
"Most people want a reason to support and do something for cancer.
"The Relay for Life is an easy way to do it. You help raise funds, you put awareness out there and it's kind of like saying 'I can do this'. A lot of people that have cancer wish they can do it."
Funds raised by teams, as well as by through the Cancer Council's Relay raffle are used to support various Cancer Council initiatives ranging from educational programs to research sample analysis.
The current funding tally is slightly more than $8,500, with a target of $35,000 for the Yarrabilba event and Ms Ferguson said the money would be put to good use.
"The Cancer Council is probably one of the best organisations," she said.
"All the money goes to research, they're not top-heavy with staff salaries and things like that."
Ms Ferguson said she and other members of her team would participate as the Beauy Bunch, and any enquiries about the relay could be forwarded to the branch's Facebook Page.
The 2022 Yarrabilba Relay for Life takes place at San Damiano College on September 10, from 1pm-9pm.
The event commences with an opening ceremony which is followed by a candlelight ceremony at 5:30pm and a closing ceremony at 8:30pm.
There will also be a Survivors and Carers lap of honour and a Survivors and Carers afternoon tea at 3pm, with catering supplied by the Cancer Council Queensland Beaudesert branch.
Registrations can be made online at the Yarrabilba Relay for Life website, with limited on-the-day registrations available.
