Four gymnasts from the Jimboomba Gymnastics Club are off to the state championships after outstanding performances at the Gold Coast Women's Artistic Gymnastics regional competition.
Erin Saxelby, Summer Graham, Reese Haxton and Annalise Norris were among the 28 girls from the club who competed at the competition, and are set to represent the Gold Coast region at the state contest in September.
Saxelby was the overall regional champion in the Level 6 open category, winning the floor and vault events and placing fifth on uneven bars.
Regional champion for Level 5 Open category went to Graham, who also won vault champion and placed second on floor and 3rd on bars.
Haxton and Norris both placed on all apparatus and finished the day with Haxton placing 4th overall and Norris 6th overall in Level 4 Unders division.
Other standout performances were delivered by:
- Clover Denley who won first in the Level 5 Open category on floor and placed fourth overall.
- Sophie Smith who was crowned vault champion in the Level 4 Open category, while Amelia Townsend who placed second and Montana Weeden placed fifth.
- Summer Taylor who came first in the Level 3 Open division, placed first on vault and floor and finished third on bars and beam.
- Charlotte Mace placed third overall in the Level 3 Open division while also placing fifth on Vault and fourth on uneven bars.
- Lily Riviera who placed second on beam and second on floor.
Head coach Callie Wall commended the team's performance, and said their hard work had paid off in a big way.
"We are so excited for all the girls," she said.
"They have all worked hard in class and their dedication to their training is showing.
"Each girl trains between 9 and 17 hours per week alongside their schooling and their performances shone brightly at the weekend.
"I am very proud of all the girls and cannot wait to see them in September at the Regional challenge."
