Live music performances, local food stalls and more will be on offer when Cusack Lane plays host to the first FLAME BBQ Street Festival on September 17.
Division 9 Councillor Scott Bannan said the festival would be a great addition to residents' calendars, joining events such as Logan City Council's Eats & Beats, but it would have a feel that is distinctly Jimboomba.
"We wanted it to have a local focus," Cr Bannan said.
"It would be good to see local businesses supported."
The free event is open to all ages, with kids' rides and other activities and local motor enthusiasts will also get the chance to see some unique vehicles courtesy of Rockin' Jimmy's.
The chance to be crowned the city's inaugural BBQ cook-off champion is also on the line, and cooks from the city's 12 divisions will face each other in elimination rounds ahead of the main festival.
Chefs from each will compete against one another for the right to represent their region, cooking a special cut of meat provided by Hanno's Country Butcher before being judged by the staff at each venue.
Further details are yet to be released, but dates for each of the regional competitions are as follows:
- Divisions 1, 2, 3: August 6 at NTG Fight & Fitness
- Divisions 4, 9, 11: August 13 at The White House of Waterford
- Divisions 6, 10, 12: August 20 at the Beenleigh Tavern
- Divisions 5, 7, 8: August 27 at Blackout Coffee
Cr Bannan said he was eager for a big turn out in September, as he had high hopes the event would not be a one-off affair.
"We want it to become an annual event, to see it grow and grow and showcase the area," he said.
The event is being funded through the Federal Government's Building Better Regions fund, and for all event updates or to register for tickets visit the Facebook Page here.
