With polling day fast-approaching Logan City Council has repeated its appeals to candidates and once again urged residents to carefully consider who they vote for on May 21.
Between the Australian Labor Party and the Liberal National Party, only three projects out of the 16 projects highlighted by the council for priority delivery have received funding pledges.
Both the ALP and the LNP have pledged a funding boost for the city's CCTV Safety camera program, with the ALP promising $800 thousand and the LNP pledging $2 million.
The ALP have also committed $22.5 million to upgrade Loganlea Road and a further $357 thousand for the Underwood Road bus turnaround.
However, the major parties have announced funding for other initiatives in the City of Logan, including a $7.3 million pledge from the LNP to redevelop Beenleigh's Hammel Park.
The ALP have also committed funding for urgent care medical centres, revisiting the Inland Rail alignment and establishing a skills laboratory at TAFE Loganlea.
Mayor Darren Power said the council had done what it could to advocate for the city and act proactively as the local population is set to boom.
"Since the election was called last month, the council has been consistent in calling on local candidates to prioritise a better future for our city by standing up for Logan," Cr Power said.
"Our population is growing and our city needs to grow with it through the timely delivery of infrastructure to ensure liveability, economic growth and sustainability.
"With half a million people set to live here by 2041, we will need state-of-the-art digital infrastructure, good community facilities, free-flowing roads and healthy environments."
Mayor Power also said the council would continue to advocate for Logan after the election, and would work with whoever formed government to achieve positive outcomes.
"Council will continue advocating for our city's needs as it's important to work together across all levels of government," he said.
"Our online election tracker clearly outlines which candidates were willing to commit to a better future for the City of Logan, and I encourage voters to take a look before they cast their votes.
"To the candidates who've stepped up for the opportunity to represent us in Canberra, I wish each one of you the best of luck on Saturday."
