QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services has announced an emergency alert issued by Scenic Rim Regional Council.
A QFES statement said multiple roads were impacted by flooding and road closures were in place.
Residents in the SRRC area are urged to plan ahead and prepare for conditions.
If travel is essential, adhere to signage and drive to conditions.
Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said some areas were impacted more than others but roads right across the region had been closed.
"We still have significant road closures," he said.
"And depending what happens tonight, we'll likely have road closures tomorrow.
"This rain event is causing local heavy falls rather than widespread heavy falls that have caused localised flash flooding on various parts of the network.
"That's why we've been asking people to stay off the roads if they can.
'We had road closed all over the region today but the flood level at Boonah was far higher than what we saw earlier this year.
"The best people can do is to be safe in place and we are optimistic that we will be able to move beyond this tomorrow."
Cr Christensen said he had been posting video updates on council's Disaster Dashboard and Facebook page and would continue to do so whenever possible.
Readers are advised to stay up-to-date with the latest information from the Bureau of Meteorology.
