THE Beaudesert Cricket Club division one side were downed by Yarrabilba in a hard-fought match at Everdell Park on the weekend.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Beaudesert started strongly, putting on 70 runs in the first 10 overs.
Yarrabilba then tightened the screws, restricting Beaudesert to 211 off 35 overs. Luke Gittens was the pick of the Beaudesert batsmen, making 58 before being stuck LBW.
Captain Keegan O'Donnell contributed a handy 42.
In response, Yarrabilba were never troubled as they cruised their way to victory in just under 30 overs. Andrew Staines and Campbell Stewart took valuable wickets but it was not enough to secure victory.
In division two, Beaudesert managed a convincing win against the Waterford Warriors. Batting first, Beaudesert kept an even pace that led to them being 7/214 at the close of their innings.
There were valuable contributions from Jon Shield (53), Mark Page (37) and Ben Holley (31).
Beaudesert then backed this up with a strong bowling attack that suffered slightly from being smacked about the park, but took consistent wickets.
Harry O'Reilly took three wickets from his seven overs, with Ben Holley and captain Stewart Groom each taking two, to have the Warriors all out for 175.
Bushrangers make hay while sun shines
The Bushrangers division two team downed top-of-the-table Logaholme at the weekend thanks to a five-wicket haul from Roxanne Thomson.
Skipper Rob Lose lost another toss and was asked to bowl first in very warm conditions.
Thomson (5/27) and Rob Lose (3/33) ripped through the Loganholme top and middle order, claiming eight wickets between them.
Brett Hayward cleaned up the tail as Loganholme limped to 103 off 23.4 overs.
The Bushrangers batsman were confident in getting the runs required but some good opening bowling made it difficult.
However, the Bushrangers hit the winning runs in the 38th over for the loss of seven wickets. Andy Conaghty made a well earned 41.
The first XI travelled to Logan Village where skipper Ash Hughes won the toss and batted first.
Opening batsman Ash Hughes and Kim Watson took the score to 61 before Watson fell for 42. Hughes was the next wicket to fall for 35.
The Bushies lost 4-9 with some good bowling, but Shannon White and Declan Abberton batted out the innings to help the Bushies score 6-186.
The Bushrangers bowled Logan Village out for 94 in reply.
