SCHOOLS from across the region went head to head at RS Willis Park on Thursday and Friday to contest the 2021 Kingfisher Cup.
Run by the NRL with volunteer referees from Flagstone and Beaudesert, the competition hosted by the Beaudesert Kingfishers is a favourite on the primary school sports calendar and sponsored by the Gold Coast Titans and Brisbane Broncos.
Schools taking part in the two-day rugby league carnival included Beaudesert State School, Tamrookum State School, St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Gleneagle State School, Veresdale Scrub State School, Emmaus College, Flagstone State School, Yarrabilba State School and Jimboomba State School.
After two days of hard competition the Kingfisher Cup went to Emmaus College for the senior division with Flagstone State School named runner up.
The junior Kingfisher Cup went to Beaudesert State School with Jimboomba the runner up.
Best and fairest medals were awarded to Beaudesert State School's Amelia Hopkins (senior) and Jimboomba State School's Damien Shaw (junior).
The Player of the Carnival award went to Flagstone State School student Will Anderson.
