A TAKEAWAY trip cost one teenager his licence and a big fine on Sunday.
Police clocked Jimboomba teen, 17 at 120km/h in a 60km/h zone on the Mount Lindesay Highway, near Park Ridge Road, about 7.50pm.
They said the P-plater was returning from a Guzman y Gomez Mexican takeaway when he was stopped near roadworks.
The teenager's licence was suspended for six months. He was fined $1200 and handed eight demerit points.
Stolen car found
Police urge the public to install tracking devices in their cars after a stolen ute was tracked from the Gold Coast to Jimboomba.
The late-model Ford Ranger was found on Blackwood Road at Jimboomba, after it was taken from Southport Spit while the owner surfed.
Police said a key safe was broken by the thief.
Constable Ryan Black said the car was found within 20 minutes of it being reported stolen, thanks to a tracking device.
"The information was relayed to us via triple zero," he said.
"Tracking devices greatly increase police's chances of finding vehicles and returning them to their owners before they are used in other offences."
Man broke COVID directive
Police fined a man for breaking COVID-19 restrictions at Greenbank on Saturday, the day before the lockdown ended.
Officers fined the Park Ridge man, 20, $1378 for failing to comply with COVID-19 directives.
Neighbours at the Covella Estate reported the man
"There was a lot of neighbourhood vigilance in the last lockdown," Senior Constable Lawrie Catterson said.
"Police have received a lot of calls reporting lockdown non-compliance."
