SCENIC Rim and Logan firies and SES volunteers are stepping up to help the Queensland Police Service manage traffic at the Queensland and NSW borders.

Harrisville fire station lieutenant George Talsma said staff and volunteers came from the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service, the Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Services.
"Many personnel from the various agencies of QFRS, RFS and SES have come to support and assist QPS with boarder operations currently in place," he said.
"With the recently opened Miles checkpoint the border operations have required more crewing and logistical support.
"We have all being working coherently together to ensure the smooth operation taking place and do our best to assist members of the public that are trying to enter Queensland for the genuine reasons stipulated within Queensland Health website."
Beaudesert's senior police officer Jon Kirkman said the checkpoints, including the border crossing at Rathdowney, would remain in place until the border was reopened.
He said extra police had also been deployed from Brisbane to help.
"Most people are complying with requirements at the border crossing," he said.
"We do ask people to have the necessary documents ready when they arrive at a checkpoint, preferably as a printout," he said.
"The most important message is to stay in your car and make sure you have your mask on when you are speaking to an officer."
