LOGAN mayor Darren Power has urged residents to get vaccinated and play their part in the nation's COVID-19 recovery.
Speaking at this morning's monthly council meeting, Cr Power praised those who had already lined up for their jabs at Logan Entertainment Centre's vaccine hub.
Cr Power spoke as three Australian states were in lockdown.
"I want to take some time today to turn our thoughts and prayers to those who are impacted across NSW, Victoria and South Australia," he said.
"My thoughts go out to those who are feeling isolated from family and friends, those who are concerned about their jobs, and those who are concerned about their health.
"Lockdown may mean a different rhythm of life, but it will end."
Cr Power issued a plea for Logan residents to get vaccinated.
"Our best defence against the virus, and another lockdown, is more people getting the vaccine," he said.
"If you are eligible for the vaccine, please book in your shot."
He praised the residents he had seen lining up outside the Logan Entertainment Centre for their shot.
"Remember, we are all relying on each other to do your bit," Cr Power said.
Division 1 councillor Lisa Bradley took to Twitter to inform constituents she had received her first dose, and also spoke of the jab at the meeting..
Cr Bradley went to the Slacks Creek respiratory clinic.
"Today I did my bit for COVID, and had my first vaccination, and strongly encourage everyone else to do the same," she said in the meeting.
