RECLAIMED land for a sewerage plant would be an ideal route for an upgrade to Chambers Flat Road, residents say.
Locals are pleading with council to move the road east and lessen the impact the four-laning would have on their lives.
They want the road to be put on land which was reclaimed to build a water treatment plant near Pleasant View Road.
The residents were not happy with early versions of plans dropped in their letter boxes, which indicated they would lose some of their land if the upgrade to Chambers Flat Road, and nearby Kenny Road, went ahead.
Horticulturalist Gary Virk, whose property lies at the corner of Kenny and Kirk roads, said plans to grow vegetables on his land had to be shelved because of the uncertainty around the upgrade and the alignment.
His plans were approved by council in 2018, but Mr Virk said he was unsure if he could go ahead.
"It is all up in the air," Mr Virk said.
"The dairy farm [land] is owned by council. it is their own land.
"They can take it [the road] straight through and over the river, where it can meet up with Waterford Tamborine Road.
"No houses would be involved either."
The plans showed four lanes would be close to nurse Kylie Reise's Nerreman Drive property.
"There is no real measurement, but by what they have sent me, it would be a definite chunk," she said.
"You would not be able to drive down the side of our property."
But a council representative said the road design plan was far from being ticked off.
"This is only the start of a detailed process and the commencement of construction will be dependent on future council budgets and other sources of federal or state funding that may be secured," the spokesman said.
"To date, council has been contacted by 31 property owners regarding the commencement of planning for this project, with a mix of support for different alignments."
Nearby business owner Tony O'Brien spoke out against councll's community consultation last month.
Mr O'Brien, who runs Janelle's Pet Resort, could lose some of their 2.2 hectares next to the road, which would impact entry for customers.
Their business is metres from the scene of a serious accident last year where two people died.
In another crash, a car ended up in the front fence of the business.
Another accident involved a mother who was reportedly taking her child to school.
Residents had a meeting on May 7 at Chambers Flat Community Centre to discuss their opposition to the plan.
