A NOTORIOUS stretch of Chambers Flat Road, the scene of a string of serious accidents, could soon be upgraded.
Logan City Council said early planning to improve the two kilometre stretch from Kenny Road to Logan Reserve Road had begun.

Four-laning, breakdown lanes and a median strip are part of the plan, council said.
Council also said that the nearby Geoff Philp Bridge on Anzac Avenue could be widened and incorporated into the Chambers Flat Road re-design.
It will be welcomed by the thousands of motorists who use the busy connector road between the Mount Lindesay Highway, Marsden and Loganlea every week.
It is the same section of road which claimed the lives of two people last June when Toyota Hilux rolled in an early-morning accident.
The driver, a 24-year-old man, died at the scene of the crash.
His passenger, a 21-year-old woman, succumbed to her injuries in hospital on July 17.
Another accident last June involved a woman and child who were on their way to school. They were struck head on by another car.
That crash was the catalyst for a council survey and a meeting with residents concerned about the road.
Councillors Jacob Heremaia and Scott Bannan, along with roads staff, met with residents.
City Infrastructure Committee chair Teresa Lane said it was a vital upgrade for the area's motorists.
"It's important that our road infrastructure stays ahead of the city's expected population growth," Cr Lane said.
"That's why council is investigating options to upgrade these roads as they form a vital connection to major arterial roads such as the Mount Lindesay Highway and the Logan Motorway.
"The road upgrade planning work will also improve flood protection and reduce travel times.
"This is only the start of a detailed process and the commencement of construction will be dependent on future council budgets and other sources of federal or state funding we can secure."
Council said it had spoken to residents and would seek community feedback.
