A JIMBOOMBA man has had his licence suspended after a motorcycle speeding incident on Easter Saturday which police said was absurd.
The man was clocked at 134km/h in a 90km/h zone on the Mount Lindesay Highway at Park Ridge South.
Police said the man in his 50s was going too quickly for a motorcycle officer to pursue safely. His fine was instead sent in the mail.
The man, who was riding a high-powered bike, will lose his licence for six months. He has also been handed eight demerit points after the incident which happened at 8.30am.
"That's absurd, and putting a lot of people at risk," Sergeant Rob Duncan said.
"In someone over 50, their brain is meant to be fully developed. I'd question if it is. How could he possibly be, at that speed, safe on the road."
It comes weeks after police launched a campaign to target motorcyclists after an alarming trend of deaths on the roads.
As of March 25, 21 riders had lost their lives on the state's roads, the highest number in the past five years.
"How much more have we got to do to stop people dying from this sort of stuff," Sergeant Duncan said.
Jimboomba police issued 34 tickets to motorists over the Easter weekend.
Sergeant Duncan said officers were pleased that there were no fatalities over that period.
A Waterford West teenager has also had his licence suspended after an Easter speeding incident.
Police caught him doing 178km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Pacific Motorway at Daisy Hill.
In an incident at Tamborine Mountain, two people were filmed hanging out the window of a moving car.
A 21-year-old Taringa man and a 21-year-old Broadbeach Waters woman were fined, as was a 54-year-old Burleigh Waters resident.
They were a handful of the 4000 motorists who were issued traffic fines over the long weekend, police said.
Six people died and 135 were injured in crashes across Queensland.
A Logan Village man was killed on Easter Sunday at Merrimac, when his car left the road and rolled.
Two cars collided at the notorious Camp Cable Road/Edelsten Road intersection on April 2.
Two motorists were taken to Logan Hospital after the accident at 12.10pm.
