A PARKRUN could soon be on the way for Flagstone residents, with a proposal to start an event in the suburb before the organisation's bosses.
Local woman Raylene Bartczak is behind the push to get the event to the suburb.
It would get runners off the road and onto a safe path, she said.
The event would be on every Saturday, but permanent markers on the route meant runners could tackle it whenever they wanted.
A keen runner who usually runs the Berrinba parkrun, Bartczak said the event would stop joggers from having to travel to nearby events
There are events at Greenbank, Yarrabilba, Meadowbrook and Berrinba, and Bartczak said a local one would be ideal.
The proposed course winds its way around the water park, dog park and local paths.
The event could start in the area within months, after years of planning.
"When we started Aussie Home Loans in Flagstone, they asked what are you going to do for local community," Bartczak said.
"We had to put it in the business plan."
In coming months, Bartczak said a call will go out for volunteers to help run the event each week.
Division 11 councillor Natalie Willcocks welcomed the news.
"A proposed parkrun event in Flagstone would be an exciting development for our community," Cr Willcocks said.
"I'm looking forward to learning more about what is proposed as parkrun Australia progresses their plans for our area."
