SNAKE hatching season is hitting full swing, but a local snake catcher reported a record sized adult capture this month.
OzCapture Snake Relocations' Glenn Lawrence wrangled his heaviest ever coastal carpet python at Logan Village.
"It's not the longest we have had to relocate, but it is hands down the heaviest," he said.
"It was close to 10 kilograms."
It had beaten the previous heaviest snake record from a couple of years ago, when Mr Lawrence was called out to Logan Hospital to rescue a snake from near the entrance to the old emergency department.
He urged locals to be on the lookout for baby snakes this hatching season, with red bellied blacks, eastern browns among the most common types.
In one incident, an eastern brown was found in a shoe rack just metres from children.
"Kids were going in and out all night," he said.
"I was able to use my hook and touch it on the tail, and it bolted into the bag."
"So I didn't have to grab it. I like those jobs."
