CRICKET fans can snap up a rare piece of sporting memorabilia, while supporting the fight against depression and mental health problems in Australia, with a special silent auction underway now.
One of Big Bash League star Chris Lynn's Gray-Nicolls bats, used in the centre by the big hitter from Brisbane, is up for grabs, and the bids are flooding in.
It could even be the bat he used to belt 20 sixes for Toombul in his return to club cricket last November, when Lynn blasted 154 from just 55 balls in a Twenty20.
His knock paved the way for Toombul to score a whopping 266 from its 20 overs.
One bidder pledged $635 for the signed bat today. Every cent from the Last Man Stands Beaudesert auction will go to the Black Dog Institute.
"This player's bat would retail for $1495, and was hand crafted to Chris Lynn's specs," LMS Beaudesert franchisee Matt Turbill said.
"If you want to secure this bat then get in contact with us and place a bid."
A Gray-Nicolls contact got the ball rolling, contacting Lynn, who was happy to donate the bat,
The silent auction is on until January 24, when a T10 competition is set down for Glenlogan Park.
The winner of the auction will get the bat on the night.
Five dollars from every registered player will go towards the total, and adds up to $480 alone.
Turbill said some generous sponsors had come on board to help tick the total along. The campaign has already raised more than $1300.
"Snap Fitness at Flagstone has kicked in some cash," he said.
"How good is it? We have already raised $1385 and it is still two weeks away."
Yarrabilba Outlaws have come on board to fill the last remaining spot in the competition.
They will play alongside winter final winners BrokeBatMountain, Beauy Bucheurs, Purple People Eaters, Duck Duck Gone, Jimboomba CC, Test Eagles, Jimby Crickets, Middle Stumped, Cane Toads, Ins and Outs and Photos for Mum.
The first ball will be bowled at 8am, with the final set down for 6.45pm under lights.
Matches will be played on turf and synthetic wickets, with 10 overs per side. Each team will play at least two games on the day.
The semi finals and final will be live streamed.
