A POPULAR Logan shopping centre is teaming up with a long-standing charity to make the holiday season a little easier for locals in need.

Village Fair Shopping Centre is uniting with YFS, one of Logan's longest running not-for-profit organisations, for a Christmas Donation Drive to directly support locals who are doing it tough.

Residents can pick up a bag outside Drakes supermarket, which contains a list of the items that can be donated.

These include personal care, laundry items and school supplies.

Residents then put the items in the bag and leave it in the donation box.

These items will be distributed by YFS to community members who have been identified as being in need, including people escaping domestic and family violence, homeless or at risk of becoming homeless or living below the poverty line.

Anna-Maree Coco, senior asset manager with First Asset Management said, the goal was to create a campaign which reflected Logan Village's sense of community.

"It was important we also partnered with an organisation not only based in the area but one who gave directly back to this community," she said.

"YFS was the perfect choice. Having operated locally for the last 37 years, they are one of Logan's longest running not-for-profit organisations delivering a range of services to the people of Logan and surrounds.

"They cater directly to people who are disadvantaged, vulnerable or want to improve their circumstance."
