It's been a day of milestones.
Victoria has clocked up two weeks of double-doughnut days - that's 14 consecutive days without a coronavirus case or death.
Meanwhile, NSW is marking off its sixth consecutive day without any local-transmitted cases.
The good news has prompted Prime Minister Scott Morrison to start moving on plans to reopen Australia.
It was one of the big agenda items at today's national cabinet meeting where all states, except WA, agreed to reopen the domestic borders by Christmas.
The other hot topic of discussion was the Queensland-made coronavirus vaccine, which could be available to the public in the third quarter of 2021.
All state and territory leaders endorsed a national vaccination policy, with chief medical officer Paul Kelly confirming Australia had advanced purchase orders for four different vaccines, which would guarantee 50 per cent of the population could be vaccinated.
The PM also announced caps for international arrivals would increase to get more Australians home.
International students, however, would have to wait. Morrison said they would not be accepted at this time.
"It's Australians coming home first," he said. "That is our policy."
The other big news this week was that four years after rumours and allegations about the conduct of Australian special forces in Afghanistan were referred to NSW Justice Paul Brereton for investigation, the findings are set to be made public.
But we've been warned the investigation into the alleged war crimes could take a decade to complete.
Morrison and Defence Minister Linda Reynolds laid out the processes the government will take to respond to the report, an exercise that has been cautiously welcomed by defence experts.
But we'll leave the final word on the topic this week to Director of Defence, Strategy and National Security at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute Michael Shoebridge:
"While proceeding forensically and carefully, it is in everyone's interests to begin and resolve any criminal cases that result from these lengthy inquiries without undue delay."
