Police are investigating after a light plane crashed in bushland at Lyons YESTERDAY.
Emergency services were called to the scene aBOUT 2.30pm after reports a fixed wing aircraft had ditched into a paddock off Tully Road.
Preliminary information suggests the plane suffered engine difficulties before crashing into bushland and catching fire.
The pilot and sole occupant, a man in his 20s, was from the wreckage by passersby.
He sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital in a critical but stable condition.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
FRIDAY:
Emergency services are at the scene of a light aircraft crash at Greenbank this afternoon.
Four police crews, paramedics and fire officers were called to the crash off Spring Mountain Drive about 2.30pm, Queensland Police said.
Bystanders rushed over to help when they saw the plane go down.
The pilot, the only occupant, is out of the plane, a QPS spokesman said.
A small fire has reportedly broken out at the scene.
