THE Weather Bureau is predicting an end to the south-east Queensland dry spell, with a bout of showers and storms forecast over the weekend and into next week.
There is a good chance of rain and a possible storm predicted for Logan, Beaudesert and the Redlands on Sunday, with showers tipped to stick around on Monday and Tuesday.
Meteorologist Rosa Hoff said a surface trough would be tracking from the west towards the coast over the weekend, making conditions favourable for storms.
"On Friday, much of inland Queensland is expected to see storm and shower activity but this will be tracking towards more central and southern areas for Saturday," she said.
"It is not expected to see significant development get beyond Toowoomba and approach the city ... however, come Sunday, we are expecting showers and potentially even storms to be over south-east Queensland.
"This will be lingering along the coast well into next week, with the chance of showers persisting but the chance of a storm easing back."
Up to 25mm is predicted for Logan and Beaudesert on Sunday, while the Redlands could see between eight and 20mm.
The rain forecast over the next few days would put an end to a few months of relatively dry weather across the south-east.
The Redlands has seen 10.2mm this month, while just 4.6mm has fallen at Logan.
It has been worse at Beaudesert where, according to Weather Bureau data, not a drop has fallen since August 8.
The bureau upgraded its La Nina watch from alert to active in September.
It means the south-east could be in for a wetter than normal spring and summer.
