A community library at Greenbank will be the first of many in coming years, those who are installing it say.
The library, which will sit on Kessels Road and open next week, will have something for young and old.
Books will sit in a wooden box, free for people to borrow or take. Readers can also donate to the facility. A bench will be included as a reading area.
"It's a nice little spot for people to come and read," Enriching Communities founder Suzanne Guastini said.
"We have a lovely grassed area where people can read, or people can sit on the bench. There will be books for all ages and genres."
Greenbank Men's Shed members built the box - a move designed to bring the community together, according to Ms Guastini.
"Enriching Communities is founded on the belief that through coming together in our local communities we can fulfill our deep need for human connection and help people feel the benefits of belonging to where they live," she said.
"Our community library is just one way we are giving back in Greenbank, but more so, it is about championing other locals to do the same, whether it be by donating books, sharing a story time and even building the library box.
"We want to champion other people. They have the talent and the skills. The vision of the library is bringing this community together."
The men's shed involvement also ticked off a first.
"It's the first ever community library built by the Greenbank Men's Shed and the first community library in Logan," Ms Guastini said.
"They were more than happy to build their very first library box with us. They have been wonderful to work with.
"... We are hoping that our library will be the beginning of many story times, along with the establishment of a book club in the future. "We wanted to do something that gave people more face to face contact in these times, that's critical."
It's the first of many planned for the area.
"We have lots of little laneways (and) we hope to have one every laneway."
