Poolwerx Jimboomba owners Jeff and Michaella Duncker are bucking the retail trend with their pool maintenance business, taking the plunge and growing their poolside empire in the heart of the region.
Opening a retail store and expanding their current three van business to four, the Dunckers have battled through broken bones, small business risk-taking and a pandemic, and are excited to embark on this next chapter.
Jeff said that, after six years maintaining and servicing pools from North Maclean to Kooralbyn, the challenges this year has brought kickstarted the couple into stepping up their offerings.
"With COVID restrictions and clients' changing financial situations impacting our business quite severely, it gave us an opportunity to re-evaluate our clients' needs and figure out how we could evolve our business accordingly," said Jeff.
"As Queenslanders make the backyard their new oasis, spending more time at, and money on, home than ever before, DIY pool servicing is on the rise and we're ready to assist locals in the world of DIY maintenance with our new retail store."
With 30 years' experience in the water industry and a heart to serve others, Jeff started his journey with the world's largest pool servicing brand as a mobile man-in-a-van with the help of wife Michaella.
Within two years, son Keegan joined Jeff on the road as a mobile technician and the business became a leader in the region with a loyal customer base.
Even a leap from their home rainwater tank in 2016 resulting in 20 broken bones did not slow Jeff down.
Michaella was forced to take the reins for two weeks in a baptism of fire, managing the business from Jeff's hospital bedside.
Just four weeks after his fall, with their eldest son Greg as his chauffeur and muscles, Jeff was back in the van servicing pools and getting on with business.
They have since added two technicians to the team (son Greg and more recently, Grace), and pride themselves on their expertise and exemplary service skills.
Jeff, Michaella and their team are a beacon of excellence within the network.
Poolwerx Jimboomba recently took out 'Regional Franchise Partners of the Year' for the region at the Poolwerx 2020 Awards.
The store additionally won 'Most Improved' in the region for the third year running, with Michaella also awarded 'Regional Franchise Women of the Year'.
Poolwerx Jimboomba is looking forward to the summer swim season ahead as the team create healthy, safe and fun pool-side memories for local pool owners.
Poolwerx is the world's largest global franchise pool service brand with nearly 600 service vehicles and 160 stores Australia-wide.
