The owners of Maclean Produce QLD pride themselves on running an efficient business where they enjoy helping customers meet their needs for the health and wellbeing of their animals.
For Debbie Keeley and Gavin Foster, it comes down to the way they conduct ourselves, their "awesome helpful friendly staff" and their ability to deliver within the local area.
"We are here to help you ensure you are doing the right thing in regards to feed schedule and supplements," Debbie said.
"It is rare that we don't have what the customer wants in stock but if that is the case, we are happy to look into supplying it for them and customers in the future."
Established 20 years ago, the North Maclean business supplies all types of animal feed, aquarium products, bulk hay, poultry, fish and guinea pigs as well as equine accessories.
The business also sells good quality insecticides to weed control paddocks.
For Debbie and Gavin, it was a run of luck that they took over ownership in April last year.
"We used to drive past the business on our way to visit friends in Beaudesert and once Debbie commented on how nice the business looked and how she would love to own it," said Gavin.
The couple both love animals and Gavin had been in the agriculture business before while Debbie comes from out west having spent her life with livestock and on the land.
"We both wanted to have a change of pace and [to] be the masters of our own destiny," said Debbie.
"Serendipity came into play" when soon after Gavin's friend called to let them know the business Debbie liked the look of was for sale.
With great anticipation, they didn't hesitate to approach the owner and the rest is history.
The produce team are there to help customers ensure they are doing the right thing in regards to feed schedule and supplements.
"A lot of people want to know what to feed the mother animal and baby animal, bitch and puppy, mare and foal etcetera," Debbie said.
There are constant supplier promotions and Maclean Produce staff will go to great lengths to ensure customers get the best deal.
And if staff can't assist with a specific product, they always have an equal product as a backup to meet customer needs.
"We are lucky as we are an essential business so whilst we have had to abide by regulations during Covid we are still open seven days a week and animals still need to eat."
Debbie and Gavin love the local community and actively support Greenbank and Jimboomba Pony Clubs and the National Barrel Horse Association.
