Logan residents have flocked to a COVID-19 testing centre established in the wake of a confirmed case involving an employee at a Park Ridge school.
More than 500 parents and students are in the queue to be tested. It is a line which stretches hundreds of metres from the Baskerville Sports Centre at Parklands Christian College.
The centre was set up when a 19-year-old cleaner tested positive for COVID-19 after returning to Logan from Melbourne, via Sydney, on July 21.
She and another woman failed to self isolate or declare they had been in a COVID-19 hotspot, angering authorities.
A parent in the queue told the Jimboomba Times via text messages that it was a long wait.
"We are halfway in the line, there are easily 500 people here and the hospital is worse," he said while waiting with his family.
"We have been waiting one hour so far and it is at least another hour or more to get tested.
"Queensland Health are communicating with the people in the line about the process and it's taking a while."
He said parents were disappointed with the women for putting them in danger.
"Not so much worried, but annoyed they have have been put in this position by their actions," he said.
"The cleaner is young, and made a very poor, selfish decision to mislead officials on her movements," he said.
"As a result, I have been sent home to isolate until my results come back. This is my employer's requirement which I agree with.
It comes as Queensland declares greater Sydney a COVID-19 hotspot, with people from the city to be turned away at Queensland borders from 1am Saturday.
