A Logan City Council investigation aims to fix a Jimboomba intersection crippled by traffic queues at peak times.
Council is looking at extending a left-hand turn lane at the corner of Tamborine Street and the Mount Lindesay Highway.
The plan will stop long queues which business owners say is affecting their trade as potential customers shy away from the area during the worst times.

The short lane means cars turning left at the give way sign on the highway block those going straight ahead or right when the adjacent traffic light is green.
The queue stretches hundreds of metres in the morning and afternoon peaks, business owners say.
They say it makes parking and access to their driveways difficult.
Stihl Shop manager Gary Harvey, whose family has operated the business for more than 20 years, said the problem had steadily increased.
"It is pretty bad, and it gets even worse in the morning and afternoon," he said.
"It stretches back past Anders Street and Town and Country.
"I think a lot of it is the school run - people doing the back streets dash to avoid the highway."
Glenn Stacey said the problems started as early as 5am some days.
"In the mornings, I can be there as early as 5am sometimes, and the cars are backed up to our workshop even then," he said.
"We are a good 300 metres back from the lights.
"When school time kicks in, it's just chaotic.
"Common sense, and I know that doesn't exist anymore, would say to extend the left hand lane and get rid of all that traffic."
The problem is so bad in the afternoons, he said, that his staff sometimes spend 15-20 minutes stuck in the driveway before getting out, then another 15 minutes in the queue.
Council approved the plan at its last meeting. Division 9 councillor Scott Bannan said something had to be done.
"Being a local road, it is easy to see the problems with it," he said.
"I know there are big issues with roads across our division, but here, the traffic backs up for almost a kilometre at peak times.
'People will say it's because of the road works [on the Mount Lindesay Highway].
"It's not just because of the road works. It happens all the time."
"We understand that it is a TMR controlled intersection, but Tamborine Street is a council road.
"We have started an investigation to see if we can extend the left-hand turn lane and stop some of the chaos."
