LOGAN and Scenic Rim residents will need to rug up this week, with freezing weather sweeping in and expected to continue for the next few days.

BOM meteorologist Rosa Hoff said cooler temperatures had kicked in on Tuesday for the east coast, while some inland areas started to feel the cold snap on Monday.

"Winds have shifted a bit southerly, bringing some weather up from down south," she said.

"This will bring a chance of frost and some windy conditions particularly around the southern interior."

At Greenbank, temperatures dipped to 4.9 degrees overnight, while Beaudesert recorded a freezing 1.8 degrees on Tuesday morning.

Ms Hoff said many areas would see single-digit temperatures in the coming nights.

"While we'll be having these cold temperatures we won't be having any rainfall," Ms Hoff said.

"The significance of these cold temperatures is generally what we'd expect in a usual July fluctuation.

"These cooler temperatures will be lasting for most of the week in Queensland."
