An abandoned kitten with a congenital condition has achieved Instagram fame after being adopted by veterinary nurse and self-proclaimed crazy cat lady Claire Stewart.
Ms Stewart said Womble the wobbly cat was brought into McMahon and Gallagher vets at Beaudesert four months ago and since then he had collected more than 1000 followers on Instagram.
"He and his sister were brought in by a lovely lady and her husband after they found them near the concrete factory at Boonah," she said.
"They were only about two weeks old so one of our nurses took him home for a couple of weeks to provide around the clock care.
"One of the kittens grew up normally and was adopted but poor Womble was a bit slow and he had a head tremor. We diagnosed him with a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia, which happens when a particular part of the brain hasn't grown properly.
"Most of the time this happens when the mother cat has not been vaccinated and transmits a virus to her babies."
Ms Stewart said Womble came to live with her in Jimboomba and he would stay with her for the rest of his life.
"He's a darling little thing but he's just a kitten so he needs constant supervision," she said.
"He is wobbly on his legs, his balance is off and he thinks he's going straight when he's actually not.
"Cats with this condition live normal lives, there is no pain associated with his condition but for now he needs special care, which basically involves making sure he stays safe because he can't jump or escape a predator."
Ms Stewart said Womble had his own fan club in Beaudesert.
"He comes in to work with me a couple of times a week to hang out with Chevy the clinic cat," she said.
"People come and often ask how Womble is doing.
"When he's not here, he stays at home with my partner Scott or sometimes my mum babysits but he's always with someone."
By all accounts, Womble quickly grew accustomed to his social influencer status.
"He likes it. He's lapping up the attention," Ms Stewart said. "He's a social little cat, he lets everyone cuddle him. He's a devoted little thing too, he loves me to death and I love him back."
