Logan City Council's 2018/2019 Annual Report has been judged the best in the Asia-Pacific region, taking out the top accolade at the Australasian Reporting Awards.
The report was judged against those of top-tier companies and organisations from across Australasia, who received gold level awards.
They included Wesfarmers Limited, the ABC, National Australia Bank and several other South-east Queensland councils including Brisbane, Redland City and the Gold Coast.
It is the first time Logan City Council has won the coveted overall Report of the Year prize, after achieving five consecutive gold awards since 2015.
Mayor Darren Power said council's annual reporting process was thorough with staff committed to providing accessible and detailed public accounts of the organisation's activities.
"In reaching their decision, the ARA judges recognised council's report had included a particularly challenging and difficult period," Cr Power said.
"The open and honest way in which we reported on those challenges helped us to achieve the distinction of Report of the Year.
"The Australasian Reporting Awards set the standard for best global practice in annual reporting.
"This is a high honour for Logan City Council and in particular, our Business Performance Management Team."

The news comes after council announced it would provide a discount to restaurant and cafe licence renewal fees to help businesses get back on track after COVID-19.
More than 1300 businesses will receive a 50 per cent discount to their fees, part of the 2020/2021 Budget to boost the city's recovery from the pandemic.
Licensed businesses include food businesses such as cafes, takeaways and restaurants, as well as water carriers, food stalls, food trucks and vans, markets, hotels and motels.
The majority of licences are due to expire on August 31.
Businesses across Logan welcomed the news.
Cr Power and Division 4 councillor Laurie Koranski visited Yarrabilba Dominos after the discounts were announced.
"These challenging times have highlighted just how important it is to look out for each other and I look forward to continue playing an active role in our community as restrictions continue easing," franchisee Greg Tinson said.
