RURAL Fire Service volunteers received a much needed boost from the greens when Beaudesert Bowls Club handed over a cheque for $2350.
Beaudesert Rural Fire Brigade group officer Terry Watkins said the funds would go towards building a fully self-contained portable dam unit to provide firefighters with water in areas where there are no natural waterways.
"We successfully applied for a grant for 7500 collar tank and with donations received we can now build a trailer with pumps and hoses, which costs between $5000 and $10,000," he said.
Club president Doug Ward said the funds were from their last competition day before COVID-19 shut them down.
"It was just when the COVID-19 restrictions were happening, so a lot of people stayed away because of that," he said.
"We had about 23 teams on the Sunday and that night it was made official that we had to close everything down."
