THE LNP has promised funding for engineering works to protect the John Muntz Causeway at Oxenford from floods.
Main Roads minister Mark Bailey said Labor had already offered to help.
"I've written to the mayor to offer TMR's assistance to help them investigate solutions for council-controlled land upstream near the bridge," he said.
"We are happy to work collaboratively with local council to ensure any reinforcement works they require upstream do not impact the John Muntz Causeway."
LNP deputy leader Tim Mander joined Scenic Rim MP Jon Krause and Theodore MP Mark Boothman at the Oxenford Pony Club last week to announce the party's commitment to fixing the problem.
Mr Krause said the pony club's grounds suffered massive erosion during the 2017 Cyclone Debbie floods, which also saw the connection road leading up to the adjacent John Muntz Bridge swept away.
He said thousands of people living on Tamborine Mountain and Upper Coomera had endured three months of long traffic diversions as a result of the bridge's closure.
"I know Tamborine Mountain residents and businesses suffer greatly when this road is cut," Mr Krause said.
"Another flood like 2017 has the potential to do enormous damage to the road - again -resulting in long detours for residents going to work or school and lost opportunities for businesses on the Mountain that rely on Tamborine Oxenford Road."
"Any work to protect the John Muntz Causeway is a godsend for Tamborine Mountain residents - after all we've been through with bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic, keeping our roads open in the event of a flood disaster is vital."
Mr Mander said if elected the LNP government would provide $750,000 to the Gold Coast City Council towards the cost of strengthening the Coomera River's banks to prevent further local erosion and restoring the pony club's lost land.
"A Deb Frecklington LNP government will invest in infrastructure to protect Tamborine Mountain's residents and businesses from future disasters," he said.
This comes after the Bureau of Meteorology last week flagged the possibility of a La Nina weather status this year, increasing the likelihood of higher than average rainfalls.
