A Jimboomba cafe owner has been left stunned by the generosity of its customers after adopting a pay it forward scheme for people struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic.
HQ Espresso, in the Jimboomba Convenience Centre, adopted the scheme at the beginning of the restrictions.
People can pay for another coffee, which is then claimed by someone who cannot pay on that day.
About 50 people had already taken up the offer in paying for someone less fortunate, and more are coming on board every day.
HQ owner Anita Blote lauded Jimboomba people for getting behind the campaign.
"People have been very generous, buying two coffees instead of one," Ms Blote said.
"They have been so generous throughout all this."
Ms Blote said the customer numbers in the centre, where the cafe has been operating takeaway-only, had been steady throughout restrictions.
"The numbers have stayed pretty much the same the whole way through [the pandemic]," she said.
"Even when the Fitness Matters gym closed next door, we thought that would affect the numbers."
"I have always tried to be innovative, and come up with new ideas.
"It's what you have to do, adapt. Otherwise, you'll struggle."
