Started knitting to keep yourself occupied during lockdown?
It seems you aren't the only one - regardless of if it was to finish off that piece you started a while ago, or to make those Netflix-binges productive, it seems many of us picked up the knitting needles in the past few months.
So many, in fact, the Bendigo Woollen Mills had to start distributing six to eight crates of product a day.
While it closed its shopfront in March as a safety precaution, general manager for sales, Kai Crosson, pictured above, said the digital side of the business started going nuts.
"We have a website and do over the phone and mail orders," Ms Crosson said.
"That (digital) part business is going nuts and taking off. It eased things for us in a staffing sense because we could redeploy staff to other parts of the shop. So we've been quite busy."
Sales have been so strong the mills have taken on more staff and been operating more often.
"We had to put on extra staff to cope," Ms Crosson said. "The factory normally works 24 hours a day, five days a week but we have been working 24 hours a day, six days a week."
Now with restrictions starting to ease across the country, and everybody seemingly keen to get out and about, only time will tell if this new pastime sticks around.
