A local honey producer has taken out some sweet awards in a nationwide competition.
Bee All Natural's chili choc honey range did well in the Mr Chilli Awards, with three medals.
The chili choc creamed honey won first place, while the hot honey picked up first and third in the competition.
The Bee All Natural team entered honey in different heat categories, based on the Scoville scale which is used to measure the spiciness of chillis.
The Flagstone company's entry, just no - the second hottest category Bee All Natural makes - won first.
Next level, which is their third hottest, won third place.
Bee All Natural owners Jason and Natasha Roebig were thrilled to do so well in the competition in the first time they had entered.
"We're the new kids on the block," Mr Roebig said.
"We are fairly new to the chilli world."
"We're over the moon that we did so well.
"It's pretty surreal when it happens in your first year of entering hot honey."
COVID-19 played havoc with the judging process, with the couple's entries travelling all over Australia to be tasted.
The Roebigs found out on Friday, May 2, that they had one, via the video announcement from organisers.
"We were helping Natasha's parents move," Mr Roebig said.
The couple has already got a new flavour to release, adding smoked garlic to their honey range.
Family and friends are being quizzed for their thoughts on the flavour before the couple consider putting it on the market.
Adding the flavours to the honey, and trialling with people, takes more than three months.
He said it was worth the wait when the flavours worked well together.
"It's perfect over a roast chicken wing," he said.
"It's not always just about trying to kill people."
The awards cap off a rollercoaster few months for the Roebigs, who, like many producers, have struggled with the impacts of the crippling drought, followed by coronavirus.
Last year, Mrs Roebig won a prestigious Queensland rural women's award.
She planned to use the $10,000 prize cheque to set up an bee-keeping training facility in the area.
